Trey Burke I love you, but you're bringing me down

i think it should be rather well known amongst friends that i am a giant jens (yens) lekman fan. he is funny, sincere, and a master at crafting catchy melodies. but instead of giving you an original tune, i'll give you a tune you've likely heard whether you remember it or not. but it's also a song he schmaltzes the crap out of with nearly nasaly croons and impossibly dry delivery.

next is a song by someone who was recently on the blog, eugene mcguinness. this crafty briton is doing much to earn your attention, but he just isn't getting it. that's a crime, pro bono. i will be sharing with you a track off the record "the early learnings of eugene mcguinness" that shows you his more childish, softer side. recommended!

here's a mississippi dude writing a song for a sally from brooklyn. well, its really about his inadequacies in getting bodies moving. its really an art no one has perfected. but dent may is well on his way towards perfecting the art of making living in a double wide awesome (apparently he may have moved out of said double wide) and songwriting (in fact, this is pretty clearly the theme of this entry, KICKASS LYRICISTS). Definately check out his forthcoming album released this tuesday. furthermore, thanks to nathan bedsole for mentally birthing this whole entry earlier this morning. we will be linking to his radio show soon enough when it makes more sense timewise.

This is the final, and definately oddest song on this entry. it's a cover of man on the moon by REM by shout out louds. it doesn't really sound like either REM or shout out louds, but really a cape cod kwassa kwassa remix of something. with that in mind this is an oddly satisfying cover. good stuff.

dance necessities

first off, the blog would like to thank brittany forks for doing some nifty editting to all the stuff that bugged her oh so much. major hugs in her direction!

rock dj by robbie williams

this video was done by the rightful heir to the james bond throne (for possible legal/getting killed in your sleep reasons we must say that we do like donald craig, but two brown haired entities can't quite accept the new blonde bond). in anycase, this video satisfies all of pyroglyphics wierd and funky requirements, from the rollerskating straight to skin ripping off.

it's no secret that the pyroglyphics were written thousands of years ago, in a particular thousand of years now known as the willenium, a mystical time in dance music really. even more oddly, a time that appeared to take place only in philadelphia, miami, and the wild wild west, even though scholars cannot agree if the millenium ever actually graced the wild wild west. maybe they should stop debating and just get jiggy wit it?

pyroglyphics is currently working out a way so that we can add a lazy pixel once a month on a random friday or saturday night. huzzah right? we thought so. look forward to that for real! have a great time y'all!

Oh man was stevie wonder a success.

Last night was the first in a series of mild successes. our new drinks were a hit, particularly the red which according to one anonymous chronic alcoholic "tastes like kool-aid." oh man the tiger needs some sleep, and is late for class. thanks for your support!

the dynamic eugene mcguinness

his first and reviewably inventive first single, MONSTERS UNDER THE BED

His second video, MOSCOW STATE CIRCUS

Yeah, his third single to date, fonz

I'd like to point out that domino records does so well not because they pick up established
talent, but good YOUNG artists and give them resources many labels wouldn't give them.
bengy ferree, lightspeed champion, four tet, the kills and bonde do role are all great examples
of this at work. give them resources and let them go wild.

you might be surprised

you might be surprised to learn pyroglyphics has a softer side. and not just a softer side like loving watching this puppy pass out into sleep while standing up on his cute little feetsies,

but we are also very fond of some of the other softer things, pyroglyphics loves emmy the great!

we also love the weee little ones, so we also love this here video

we all love the swede's! in particular a certain jens lekman! and very cute girls who play accordians.

as well as guys from texas who live in london and record in omaha.

this may or may not surprise you, but it is necessary.

A little history lesson

the story begins on a likely rainly day in england, September 17, 1982, when the clash wrote a skinhead anthem entitled "Straight to Hell." the song wasn't really what one might expect from a skinhead anthem, but what would one expect really? they didn't have kottonmouth kings back then.

Now lets jump forward some many years to 2007 when M.I.A.'s Kala was released, and another gem
is found for kids everywhere to get all gangster to, Paper Planes.

and kids everywhere became hardened ganst.... they made dances, really shitty dances.

worse?

Worst?

But hey, aside from the terrible dances, people did some really rad remixes, some with star power!

Then it got huge with the release of pineapple express, which featured the song in its trailer.

And M.I.A. got pregnant, you can't get mad at that. (Oct. 2008)

Then it got intense. hits radio stations started givin you "you heard it here first" paper planes, over a
year late. next thing you know every one and their mom was on that song.

and finally in mid october 2008, La Fonda released her remix, a remix so terrible that it pushed the
producer of PPRPLNS, Diplo to pronounce paper planes dead. i initially though it may have been
premature, but he was right to kill it when he did. just listen, its below the picture

and so there you have, a history lesson on your favorite song and perhaps future prom anthem for
years to come. goodday.
